About the college

The Badvel and Sidhout Higher Education Committee, founded by Late Bijivemula Veera Reddy, established the college in 1979 to serve the academic needs of the Badvel constituency. After his passing in 2000, his daughter Smt. K. Vijaya assumed leadership of the committee as President, and Mr. K. Rithesh Kumar Reddy serves as Correspondent today.

The college is affiliated to Yogi Vemana University, Kadapa, and follows the university’s curriculum and examinations. From July 2023 the aided section implements the NEP honours structure, offering B.A. Honours in Public Administration, History, Economics and Special Telugu; B.Com. Honours (General); and B.Sc. Honours in Botany, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics.

Fifteen departments support the teaching — Telugu, English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Statistics, Computer Science, History, Economics, Political Science, Commerce, Public Administration and Physical Education.

The library sits on the first floor beside the seminar hall: fully computerised issue, return and OPAC search, bar-coded books, and a separate well-ventilated reading room. As the Principal, Dr. K. Venkata Subba Reddy, puts it: “Acquiring knowledge and proper guidance shapes our lives and helps us to build a promising future while contributing to national growth.”
