The SBVR Agricultural College library is built up over 2,970 sq ft. It is well illuminated and ventilated, with seating for 150 users across a student reading hall and a staff reading hall. To make it user friendly, the library is partitioned into sections: textbooks, reference, periodicals, competitive examinations, and the digital library — 50 computers on a 100 Mbps connection.

The library subscribes to e-resources and runs OPAC, an online public access catalogue, so users can search by author, title, subject and keyword across the campus LAN. All library operations are automated; the database is managed with “My Class Campus” automation.

Library Advisory Committee

Constituted at institutional level and chaired by the Associate Dean. The committee meets at the beginning of the academic year to discuss upgrading learning resources and infrastructure, and how to motivate users to access the library online and offline.

In addition to traditional classroom education, faculty extensively use ICT-enabled tools including online resources. All teaching faculty use smart boards, LCD projectors, Zoom, Google Quiz and e-learning technology. The e-learning centre has leased-line internet, projectors, computers, laptops, Wi-Fi and LAN-connected desktop PCs.

Faculty adopt ICT methods — videos, presentations, animations and quizzes — depending on the course and situation, and are themselves trained through faculty development programmes.

The college has an elegant auditorium with centralised air conditioning and seating for 400. It is furnished with contemporary state-of-the-art equipment and excellent acoustics, and caters to meetings of students and faculty, presentations, short-term training programmes, workshops, conferences, guest lectures, cultural activities and celebrations.

Mini seminar halls seat 150 each. They are centrally air conditioned and equipped with good acoustics and audio-visual aids, facilitating group discussions, mock interviews, debates and other academic activities.

The college health centre caters to the basic medical needs of staff and students, managed by two senior physicians with supporting staff. It is equipped with a thermometer, blood glucose testing, ECG, steriliser, autoclave, dressing drum, weighing machine, BP apparatus, patient bed and stretcher.

Qualified, experienced staff and nurses handle patients during emergencies, providing immediate medical attention and first aid to all students and staff. The college also holds an MoU with Sri Divya Hospital in Badvel town for any advanced medical emergency.

The college has one large bus with a 70-seat capacity and one mini bus seating 25. These are used for agricultural field visits and industrial visits. The college also runs one Innova and one Mahindra Scorpio for college work.

The college runs a well-equipped gym. Its main objective is to help students develop strength and stamina; the workouts contribute to overall development, exposing students to many types of exercise to improve fitness and endurance. It also gives students a change from their regular timetable of studies and classes, and helps them acquire sports skills.

A yoga centre is available within the campus with a capacity of nearly 120 students. Yoga and meditation sessions are organised for staff and students by the yoga cell.
